Dietary protein deficiency, characterized by changes in liver enzymes, increased synthesis of amino acids and decreased urea formation by reducing urinary excretion of nitrogen. It affects growth, immune response and the production of enzymes and hormones. It may occur even when there is adequate intake of proteins, however, the food source are proteins of low biological value. (MeSH) |
